n June 1955, First Lady Mamie Eisenhower received a #138 Gentleman's Arm Chair from Frederick Duckloe & Brothers. Mrs. Eisenhower placed the chair in the foyer of President Eisenhower's farmhouse in Gettysburg.
That chair has been retired to storage, but a replica from Duckloe now occupies the same space.

Dear Mr. Duckloe:
The Gentlemans Arm Chair #138 arrived on Monday, October 23
rd. We placed it on exhibit in the entrance hall of the Eisenhower home soon thereafter. Your donation is an important addition to our museum collection. It is the first piece of furniture that visitors see when touring the home. The original Windsor armchair presented to First Lady Mamie Doud Eisenhower by your father, 45 years ago, has now been retired to storage. In this way, it will be preserved. At some future date we hope to place it on exhibit with other gifts received by the Eisenhowers.
In order that we may comply with National Park Service regulations governing the acceptance of gifts, please sign both copies of the Deed Gift form enclosed. Keep one for your records and please return the other copy. A self-addressed envelope has been provided for your convenience. Keep in mind that donations to the National Park Service are fully tax deductible.
Thank you for your interest in Eisenhower National Historic Site and your generosity in making this donation. Please accept the enclosed certificate as a token of our appreciation.
Sincerely,
James C. Roach
