During George Washington's lifetime Fraunces Tavern was located in a rather bucolic neighborhood, but times change. Fraunces now finds itself in the heart of New York City's financial district. The world headquarters of Goldman Sachs is directly across the street, the Nasdaq building is one block away on Whitehall Street, and the New York Stock Exchange (Wall Street) is a scant few hundred yards north up Broad Street.
