Our hand-crafted model has been fashioned from the original chair's species of woods - a fine tight-grained tulip poplar from which we could saddle the great depth of the seat area, as well as to produce a most pronounced center horn...bold Philadelphia-style turnings from clear hard white maple...steam bent northern ash to form the continuous arm and to prepare a graceful comb-back for our carver; and unusual deep scroll carving on each "ear" which makes the final supreme style most correct...the flexible and properly cured tight-grained hickory cuttings in precise diameters for spindles which brace both arm and comb...finally, those razor-sharp tapered wedges; in various widths, and in their proper places; which are necessary to knit together all the skillfully formed parts with glue only.
